Doctors

Philip was born in Canada but has lived most of his life in New Zealand. He completed High School in the Waikato region before going to Medical School in Dunedin. After graduation in 1980 he worked in a variety of hospital specialties and completed his training in General Practice with extra qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, family Planning, Anesthetics and Emergency Medicine.
Dr Gray joined the Shirley Medical Centre in 1986. He enjoys all aspects of general practice, particularly the long term stable relationships between the patient and the their doctor.
In his spare time he enjoys time with his wife and their children. He is also always active in outdoor pursuits including fishing, tramping, sailing, ski-ing and cycling.
He finds it a pleasure to come to work with a great team of colleagues.
Doctor Lynda Gray graduated in 1984 from Otago University and pursued further training in Auckland in Pediatrics (Dip Paeds) and Gynecology (Dip Obs) and Community Emergency Medicine (Dip Com Emer Med).
Lynda recently retired as a sexual assault physician after 28 years. Lynda is a director on three boards - Cambridge Clinic (sexual assault service) - Early Start and ScreenSouth Limited (breast and cervical screening).
Lynda enjoys reading, playing guitar, biking, skiing, travelling and spending time with her blended family of 8 children and 5½ grandchildren.
Michael grew up in Christchurch and was a teacher before retraining as a doctor. He has been at Shirley Medical for over 20 years and is passionate about family medicine and enjoys meeting his long term and new patients daily. He is confident that working with an excellent team of medical and nursing colleagues ensures delivery of first class care.

In his spare time he cycles - sometimes crashing his mountain bike - and loves cooking and wine. He has the worlds cutest dog (Milo) and is supported by his long suffering wife Juliet and still pays the bills for his son at university.
Vance completed his training in Family Medicine in Canada prior to emigrating to New Zealand in 1988. He worked in Hastings then Wellington before settling in Christchurch with his wife Debbie. Together they have raised two children who are now grown and making their own ways in the world.
Dr Yeomans had a solo practice on Breezes Road, Christchurch until he joined Shirley Medical Centre in 2007, where he has since enjoyed working. He has an interest in all aspects of Family Medicine.
In his spare time he enjoys getting outdoors, biking, tramping, gardening or walking his dog, Olive!
Linda was born in Scotland and studied Medicine at the University of Glasgow (1998).
She and her husband spent 2 years in New Zealand in the early 2000's then returned to the United Kingdom where she worked in a Somerset family practice for 8 years. Linda, Sean and their 2 children returned to Christchurch and to Shirley Medical in 2013 and will not be going back this time.
Linda enjoys all aspects of family practice, the job gets better with each passing year as she gets to know her patients and their families.
In her time off she loves to cook and swims to keep fit.

Petra was born and raised in The Netherlands. After she graduated from Medical School at Radboud University Nijmegen in 2010 she worked in different hospitals for 3 years as a house officer in Intensive Care and surgery departments and she has had experience in emergency medicine.
Dr Heutink completed her General Practice training in 2015 (Utrecht University) and worked as a locum for 2 years in The Netherlands before she decided to move to New Zealand in 2017.
She and her partner Stefan are enjoying the outdoor lifestyle of New Zealand and in her spare time Petra loves to play field hockey, ski, scuba dive, hike and travel around the country.
